An education and exercise program for people primarily with hip and knee Osteoarthritis. Research of the GLA:D program has shown that symptom progression related to Osteoarthritis is reduced by 32%.
WHAT IS GLA:D?
This education and exercise program reflects the latest evidence in Osteoarthritis research. Osteoarthritis is the most common lifestyle disease in those over the age of 65 years, however can affect individuals as young as 30 years of age.
The GLA:D program is a strongly researched treatment plan to help
- reduce pain
- increase physical activity levels​
- improve joint related function
- reduce reliance on joint related pain killers
- reduce / delay the need for surgery
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
- An initial appointment explaining the program and assessing your current functional ability.

- Two education sessions that focus on how GLA:D exercises improve joint stability and how to retain this improved joint stability outside of the program.

- Group Neuromuscular training sessions twice a week for six weeks, to improve muscle control of the joint which then leads to a reduction of symptoms and improved quality of life.
